I was at an event a while back and someone was giving a speech.

He was a relatively prosperous Black man who was a leader in his field and he was making a point about the strength and resilience of our ancestors, especially the women who'd been enslaved and who'd resisted enslavement.

So far so good.

But then he said something that made my jaw drop.

He said, “I wish I could have experienced slavery.”
