Hello {{ first name | friends}}, the podcast isn’t due to resume for another couple of weeks, but as I sit here in the Caribbean, I’ve been thinking about what the invasion of Venezuela by the US means in general, and what it means for us as anti-racists. This was an in-the-moment recording - I may have more to say on this another time.

Venezuela Invasion - Capitalism and Colonialism- SARN Minis #79 Transcript

Hi, I'm Sharon Hurley Hall. Welcome to the Sharon's Anti-Racism Newsletter podcast, SARN Minis.

This was not how I was expecting to start out the podcast run for 2026.

In fact, I hadn't prepared anything yet when I heard the news, as many of us did, that the US had invaded Venezuela, extracted Nicholas Maduro and was taking him to stand trial in the US.

There are a lot of reasons why this doesn't sit right with me. And to be honest, those of us who had been following the news for the last couple of weeks could see it coming. Could see the orange one laying the groundwork for this illegal action.

This is how colonialism works.
