Hello {{ first name | friends}},
I'm up for an Anthem Award, and I'd love to have your vote!
My jaw dropped when I got the news that Sharon's Anti-Racism Newsletter is a finalist in the sixth annual Anthem Awards. There's something serendipitous about this recognition just after celebrating six years of SARN's existence, don't you think? I am grateful, not just to the Anthem Award judges, but to all of you who have supported the newsletter for so long.
The award is in the category of Belonging and Inclusion: Content and Media. And it means my work is being seen.
In August 2020, I set out to fight racism, one article at a time. More than 750 posts and 5,000 subscribers later, the newsletter is still going, with the additional mission of highlighting initiatives by Black and Global Majority founders, activists, writers and creatives. Tis recognition reaffirms the importance of both missions.
I won't know which award the newsletter will get till early November - that's up to the judges. But as a finalist I'm also in contention for the Community Voice Award, which is voted for by the public. So I'm asking for your vote.
Here's why that matters. Because it sends a message that in an era of DEI backlash and increasingly open bigotry, work like this still has a place. Your vote helps amplify the message that we are better together and that both diversity and fighting racism matter.
Voting ends on October 29th, 2026.
