Hello friends,

Companies often ask what they can do about racism and discrimination. But instead of wringing their hands, there's a really simple starting point: creating the space to talk about experiences.

Back in 2020/2021, when I was working in a DEI role in an educational technology company, that's exactly what we did. The company had a handful of Black and Global Majority contractors, but most people working there were racialised as white. Their hearts were in the right place, but they had questions.

Since anti-racism was one of our fundamental values, we decided to make a space for them to ask those questions. Our ultimate goal was to increase people's capacity to identify and tackle racism wherever they saw it.

It was CPD, anti-racist style.
