Hello friends,
What a month it’s been! Here’s an update on all the current projects. Be warned: it’s a long read!
The Audiobook
I started the month by recording the audio for the audiobook of I’m Tired of Racism. At the time of writing, I’d just received the files from the sound engineer, so I’ll be checking those so all edits can be finalised.
I’ve also been in touch with the person I hope will do the audiobook cover, and I’ve started setting up my ACX account. That means everything’s on track for a release sometime in November.
That will officially end the production phase for this book, which will be quite something after working on it in various guises for a solid three years.
Barbados Book Launch
Kathie Daniel of Southpaw Grafix in Barbados is helping me plan the local launch of my book on October 28th. As always, I’m doing it on a shoestring, which probably means an intimate audience of no more than 70 people - good numbers for a local launch, I’m told.
With just under a month to go at the time of writing, it’s all systems go, and making hard decisions about what’s essential and what’s simply nice to have. By the time I write the next letter, it will be over, and I’ll be able to update you on how it went.
The Milwaukee Trip
Lea and I went to Milwaukee to attend YWCA SEW’s Circle of Women event. It was an interesting experience, with much to think about regarding what putting equality into practice really looks like.
